Details

Want to know more about the history of the Shofar, Hannukah Menorah or Deli Sandwich? Bring Jewish practice to life through objects and text study. Whether you are just getting started in building a Jewish life or far along in your Jewish journey, we will deepen your engagement with Jewish life over four sessions. Art Historian Professor Gabriel Chazan and Rabbi Jessy will bring together a discussion of the objects used in Jewish holidays and culture alongside various Jewish texts. Using object-based learning, we will handle artifacts and consider their significance. Each session will engage with one or more objects thematic to the season we are in.

In this session we will discuss the long history of the Hanukkah Menorah, and participants are encouraged to bring favorite family menorahs to share with the group.

Watch for additional sessions in the Spring of 2027, including the deli sandwich!

Come for one or all!
