Rental FAQs

Have questions? Read through our Rental FAQs below.

What types of events can I host at Third Space?

Whether you’re planning a meeting, celebration, performance, workshop, or something entirely your own, we’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up. Tell us about your event and we’ll help determine whether Third Space is the right fit.

How do I book a space?

The best place to start is our rental inquiry form. Once we receive it, someone from our team will reach out within two business days to learn more about your event, answer questions, talk through availability, and provide an estimate.

What is included in my rental?

No two events are exactly alike, and that’s one of the things we love. We’ll work with you to create an event plan that fits your gathering and provide a clear estimate outlining your space, staffing, equipment, and any additional services or fees—so there are no surprises along the way.

Is Security required at all events?

Creating spaces where everyone feels safe and welcome is one of our core values. Depending on the size and nature of your event, security may be required. We’ll walk through those needs with you early in the planning process so there are no surprises.

Will my guests be able to park?

Yes! We’ll help make parking as easy as possible. If your event is larger, we’ll help arrange additional parking nearby. We have several parking options depending on the size of your event, and we’ll help determine the best plan.

What is the food and drink policy?

Food and drink are welcome at many events. If you’re planning to have your event catered, rental of the Third Space kitchen is required. Our kitchen is maintained as a vegetarian kitchen, and all caterers are asked to follow our kitchen and food policies. If you have a unique request, we’re happy to discuss it with you in advance.

To help preserve this historic space, food isn’t permitted in the Main Sanctuary. Water bottles are always welcome, and guests can refill them at our hydration station in the lobby.

Do I have to use an approved caterer?

If you would like a recommendation from us for a delicious caterer, just let us know, we love to eat and have lots of opinions!

Have a caterer you already love? Great! We’re happy to work with new caterers—they’ll just need to complete a brief approval process and walkthrough before your event.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Alcohol may be served at your event, but it must be provided and served by a licensed and insured caterer or vendor. This helps ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Hosts may not provide or serve their own alcohol.

Can I personalize the space?

We want your event to feel like yours, while also helping us care for our historic building and create a safe experience for everyone.

Some decorations and special effects—including fog or smoke effects, dry ice, bubble machines, helium balloons, confetti, and similar materials—aren’t permitted. Decorations may not be suspended from ceilings and may only be attached using approved methods.

If you have something special in mind, we’d love to hear about it. Please review our Facility Policies & Procedures for complete decoration guidelines and reach out as you’re planning. We’re happy to help you find options that will work beautifully in the space.

Can I have a DJ or Band or live music?

Music is welcome here. Whether you’re hiring a jazz trio, a DJ, a string quartet, or a full band, we’ll help make sure everything sounds great and works well within the space. We’ll work with you to make sure the sound level is appropriate for the space and any other activities taking place in the building.

Can I bring in my own audio and lighting engineer?

We’ve partnered with a trusted A/V team that knows our spaces inside and out. They provide all audio, lighting, and technical production for events at Third Space, helping ensure everything runs smoothly. We’ll connect you with them early in the planning process to discuss your event and provide a customized estimate.

Can I use my own vendors?

Usually, yes! We know you’ve likely chosen vendors you trust, and we’re happy to work with them whenever possible. Depending on the services they’re providing, we may need to review insurance documentation, approve their work in advance, or schedule a walkthrough of the facility.

A few specialized services, including audio, lighting, and technical production, are provided exclusively through Third Space’s trusted partners to ensure the best experience for your event.

Just let us know who you’re planning to work with early in the process, and we’ll help coordinate the rest.

Is the building accessible?

Creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and able to participate is one of Third Space’s core commitments. If you or your guests have accessibility needs, we encourage you to reach out as you’re planning your event. We’re happy to talk through the space and work with you to create the best possible experience.

Our main entrance includes an accessible ramp, and accessible restrooms are available on the ground floor. The Main Sanctuary is located on the second floor. While our historic building does not have an elevator, a chair lift provides access for individuals who are able to transfer from their mobility device. Wheelchairs are available on the Sanctuary level.

Because the chair lift cannot transport a wheelchair or other mobility device between floors, we encourage anyone with specific mobility or accessibility needs to contact us in advance. We’ll work with you to explore options and help plan the most comfortable and inclusive experience possible.

How far in advance should I book?

The sooner, the better! We recommend reaching out as early as possible, especially for larger events or those requiring catering, A/V, security, or additional parking. Availability varies throughout the year, and booking early gives you the greatest flexibility.

Do I need event insurance?

Insurance requirements vary depending on the size and nature of your event. If event insurance or a Certificate of Insurance (COI) is required, we’ll let you know early in the planning process and walk you through exactly what’s needed.

Every gathering starts with a conversation.

Whether you’re planning something simple or something ambitious, we’d love to hear what you have in mind. Complete our rental inquiry form, and a member of our team will be in touch within two business days to start imagining it with you.
